From airport to Grenoble city

ISTerre’s main laboratory is located on the campus of the University of Grenoble-Alpes (UGA) in Saint-Martin d’Hères/Gières, France.

By train

> From Lyon-St Exupéry International Airport (airport code LYS) is located 100 km from Grenoble.

The most convenient way to reach Grenoble from Lyon Airport is via a frequent shuttle service called "Navette OuiBus". The shuttle will bring you directly to the Grenoble train station in just an hour. Shuttles depart hourly or half-hourly. You can purchase your ticket on this website or at the airport transport counter during working hours.

There are quite a few SNCF trains between Lyon Saint Exupéry Airport and Grenoble city. However, if you choose to travel by train we recommend the direct, high-speed TGV trains that you can book on SNCF connect.

> From Geneva International Airport (code GVA) is located about 150 km from Grenoble.

You can reach Grenoble from Geneva Airport via a frequent shuttle service that leaves from the airport and brings you directly to the Grenoble Train Station in 2h15. It runs every 2h30. You can reserve a seat up to 15 minutes before shuttle departure.

By car

If you are driving from Lyon (highway A48) or from Gap/Sisteron (N175/N185), follow signs towards Chambéry, Rocade Sud. If you are driving from Chambéry (highway A41), follow signs for Lyon/Valence, Rocade Sud.

From city center to campus

Trams to the UGA depart every 5 minutes from city center. Take tram "B" or "C" towards "Gières plaine des sports". Get off at the stop "Gabriel Fauré".
Once at "Gabriel Fauré", head East (tramway stop are north-south), turn onto "Rue des Mathématiques" and continue to the roundabout. Turn right onto "Rue de la piscine" and follow the street. ISTerre is located on the left, a white three-story building.

If you wish to bike, you can rent a "Metrovelo" bike for a day costs 5 euros. You will find a rental point on campus or in front of the train station.
